About

As a Driver Manager/Load Planner you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing daily trucking operations. This position requires a proactive leader who ensures efficient load planning, driver performance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

Driver Management & Communication

  • Serve as the primary contact for drivers, providing load assignments, performance feedback, and company updates.
  • Ensure drivers fully understand customer requirements and company expectations.
  • Monitor and manage driver availability, compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), and performance metrics.
  • Lead and retain a designated fleet of regional drivers, fostering strong relationships to enhance productivity.
  • Conduct corrective actions when necessary.

Load Planning & Fleet Coordination

  • Coordinate daily load assignments to optimize efficiency and on-time performance.
  • Work closely with other departments to secure loads for the fleet and ensure smooth dispatch operations.
  • Manage routing to minimize out-of-route miles and optimize fuel efficiency.
  • Maintain real-time visibility of fleet movements using GPS and dispatch software.
  • Perform A.M. and P.M. checks to update Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and Projected Time Available (PTA) for trucks.

Operational Oversight & Problem Solving

  • Respond promptly to driver concerns, such as delays, breakdowns, or compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely servicing of trucks.
  • Monitor and enforce company policies, safety standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Ensure a service level of 98% for on-time pickups and deliveries.
  • Manage accuracy of information for assigned drivers.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 1+ years of tanker dispatch experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: High level of accuracy entering and updating detailed information. AS400 Innovative system knowledge preferred.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization: Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office and dispatch tracking systems.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage and motivate drivers effectively under pressure.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Full-time, daytime shift (10-hour shifts may apply).
  • Office-based role with frequent phone and computer use.
