About
As a Driver Manager/Load Planner you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing daily trucking operations. This position requires a proactive leader who ensures efficient load planning, driver performance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
Driver Management & Communication
- Serve as the primary contact for drivers, providing load assignments, performance feedback, and company updates.
- Ensure drivers fully understand customer requirements and company expectations.
- Monitor and manage driver availability, compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), and performance metrics.
- Lead and retain a designated fleet of regional drivers, fostering strong relationships to enhance productivity.
- Conduct corrective actions when necessary.
Load Planning & Fleet Coordination
- Coordinate daily load assignments to optimize efficiency and on-time performance.
- Work closely with other departments to secure loads for the fleet and ensure smooth dispatch operations.
- Manage routing to minimize out-of-route miles and optimize fuel efficiency.
- Maintain real-time visibility of fleet movements using GPS and dispatch software.
- Perform A.M. and P.M. checks to update Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and Projected Time Available (PTA) for trucks.
Operational Oversight & Problem Solving
- Respond promptly to driver concerns, such as delays, breakdowns, or compliance issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely servicing of trucks.
- Monitor and enforce company policies, safety standards, and DOT regulations.
- Ensure a service level of 98% for on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Manage accuracy of information for assigned drivers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 1+ years of tanker dispatch experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: High level of accuracy entering and updating detailed information. AS400 Innovative system knowledge preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organization: Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office and dispatch tracking systems.
- Leadership: Ability to manage and motivate drivers effectively under pressure.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time, daytime shift (10-hour shifts may apply).
- Office-based role with frequent phone and computer use.
