The Department of Interior Design, Furnishings, and Fashion Design—part of the School of Arts and Design—is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor of Interior Design. The interior design program holds both NASAD and CIDA accreditation and continues to grow, creating the need for an additional faculty member who can support an innovative and rigorous Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. The department also offers a minor in Visual Merchandising Design and maintains strong connections with the High Point Market, the world's largest home furnishings trade show. Facilities include a technology lab and an active makerspace within the Center for Innovation. We are committed to integrating creative practice with emerging technologies and seek collaborative educators who share this vision. Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree in interior design or a closely related field At least one academic degree in interior design or architecture Prior teaching experience at the college or university level Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative academic environment Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant discipline Professional practice experience in interior design Primary Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate studio and/or lecture courses in areas such as design communication, building systems, merchandising, and studio design Demonstrate proficiency in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite Contribute to departmental and university service Engage with the broader design community to support and elevate program visibility Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and innovative pedagogical initiatives Application Process
