Impact Join a highly skilled engineering team supporting critical national security and nuclear operations at the Savannah River Site. In this role, you will provide advanced electrical engineering expertise for complex nuclear and industrial facility projects, helping deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions. Your work will directly support mission-critical infrastructure, operational reliability, and modernization initiatives across DOE facilities. Responsibilities and Duties Define scope of technical programs and develop effective engineering solutions to complex technical challenges Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS Perform engineering analysis, design development, construction support, and field walkdowns Generate and review engineering design output documents including: Single Line Drawings Electrical Equipment Lists Control System Designs Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams Electrical Equipment Specifications Bulk Material Specifications Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Designs Grounding Designs Heat Tracing Designs Fire Detection Systems Short Circuit Calculations Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis Load Flow Analysis Electrical System Sizing Calculations Apply advanced technical knowledge to resolve complex engineering problems Develop schedules, monitor progress, manage budgets, and review quality of work performed Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff Communicate technical results and recommendations to customers, colleagues, and management Support engineering activities using SRNS processes and procedures Perform weekly field walkdowns, including navigating construction environments and climbing ladders when necessary Stay informed of advancements in applicable engineering technologies and standards Support implementation of new engineering approaches and methodologies Minimum Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
or
current Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Electrical Engineering Minimum of: Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience,
OR Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience,
OR Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience Minimum of ten (10) years of electrical design experience in the nuclear or chemical process industry Working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA requirements Experience using ETAP or similar software to generate electrical system calculations Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance Ability to perform field walkdowns involving uneven terrain, extended walking distances, ladder climbing, and use of protective clothing Subcontractor must maintain active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA Desired Skills Previous Savannah River Site (SRS) Design Engineering experience DOE facility experience and familiarity with DOE engineering support processes and procedures Prior active DOE “L” or “Q” clearance within the past two years Proficiency using MicroStation 2D CADD software Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience preparing technical reports, engineering studies, and presentations Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred Equivalent combinations of education and relevant engineering experience may be considered as outlined below: Ph.D. in applicable engineering/science discipline with 5+ years of experience Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Electrical Engineering is preferred Why Work at COMPA Industries?
