In this vital role, you will administer and provide speech-language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by physicians; evaluate, plan, direct, and treat individuals receiving therapy services, helping them maximize functional performance and independence while adapting to the limitations of their disability. You will also contribute to departmental performance and CQI initiatives that support exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough evaluations to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders, and establish individualized treatment goals
Develop and implement effective individualized treatment plans in consultation with physicians
Perform swallowing and related clinical examinations, communicate findings promptly, and recommend dietary modifications to reduce aspiration risk
Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate to optimize outcomes
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, interventions, and patient progress in the medical record
Support departmental quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives through active interdisciplinary collaboration
Engage patients and families in the plan of care, addressing psychosocial, cultural, and educational needs with respect and professionalism
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
Hospital-based experience
New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency and BCLS Certification
Competency in the use of CSL and nasometry equipment
Ability to build enduring relationships with each patient and family
Collaborative-minded professional with strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively, remain flexible, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment
