Mechanical Design Engineer
to support increasing demand and a high level of machine customisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team working on innovative machinery projects from concept through to delivery.
The Role You will be responsible for the mechanical design of new machinery, as well as retrofits and upgrades to existing equipment. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, tailored engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities Create 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks Produce sales layout drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD Design machinery in line with customer specifications and requirements Generate mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) Produce detailed 2D drawings (assemblies, parts, fabrication) Develop pneumatic schematics Collaborate with internal design teams to optimise solutions Identify and contribute to product improvements Create machine manuals and technical documentation Provide technical support during machine build and assembly Complete documentation such as test plans and validation records Work closely with internal teams to resolve design and build challenges
About You Essential: Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. BTEC, HNC or equivalent) Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within machinery or automation Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability Confident using xbpsjku Microsoft Office tools Effective team player with strong communication skills Desirable: Degree in Mechanical Engineering Chartered status or working towards it Experience building or commissioning machinery Knowledge of production line validation and documentation Experience using AutoCAD for layout drawings Understanding of pneumatic systems
Additional Information Occasional overtime may be required Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally for site visits when needed Must hold a valid passport
