- Backend Software Design: As a Backend Engineer you drive the detailed design, documentation, development of resilient and secure backend systems as well as APIs, following a modern, modular, and layered architecture.
- Service & Business Logic Development: Part of your task will be to implement and maintain critical backend services, core business logic, and database schemas, ensuring strong data consistency, integrity, and overall application reliability.
- Cloud & Deployment Excellence: You ensure the technical excellence of backend service deployments on our cloud infrastructure by applying best practices in observability, monitoring, scalability, and security.
- Technical Standards & Quality: Last but not least, you define and enforce backend engineering best practices, including automated testing, dependency injection patterns, and structured code reviews, to ensure long-term system stability and quality.
- Education: excellent degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- Experience and Knowledge:
- several years of professional backend development experience with a strong focus on scalable, production-grade SaaS systems
- proven expertise in developing asynchronous Python-based APIs, including mandatory hands-on experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, and SQLAlchemy
- advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL (data modeling, migrations with Alembic) and professional experience deploying applications to Kubernetes on hyperscalers (e.g. Microsoft Azure / AKS)
- strong software and technical design skills, including secure, multi-tenant architectures, RESTful APIs, modular and layered system design, and automated testing (unit, integration, acceptance)
- solid data proficiency (e.g. Pandas) and exposure to data platforms such as Databricks to enable effective collaboration with data scientists and data engineers
- Personality and Working Practice: you have excellent communication skills; you are highly experienced in working with international and interdisciplinary teams
- Languages: fluent in English, German is a plus
