- As a data engineer you will lead the technical design and implementation of a scalable, cost‑efficient data platform for machine learning and analytics by skillfully leveraging batch as well as streaming technologies.
- You will design, deploy, operate robust ETL/ELT pipelines that process large‑volume, high‑velocity data from industrial sources such as IoT sensors and manufacturing execution systems.
- Furthermore, you will design and implement logical as well as physical data models for our data warehouse, while establishing data quality and governance standards across all pipelines.
- Last but not least, you will evaluate and select suitable data technologies and tools to meet business as well as technical requirements, particularly within a Microsoft Azure data ecosystem.
- Education: completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related technical field
- Experience and Knowledge:
- several years of professional experience in data engineering with a proven track record of building and operating data platforms and pipelines in a cloud environment
- extensive hands‑on experience in designing and implementing scalable data processing jobs
- professional experience with Azure Databricks (Delta tables, Lakebase, Lakehouse)
- very strong knowledge of modern streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, MQTT) for real‑time data ingestion
- strong knowledge and professional experience with cloud platforms, e.g. the Microsoft Azure data stack (e.g. Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory)
- expertise in data modeling, data warehousing principles and data governance
- proven ability to design data platforms supporting both large‑scale analytics and machine learning workloads
- experience with industrial or manufacturing‑related data sources
- Personality and Working Practice: you communicate complex technical topics clearly and enjoy sharing your expertise in international, interdisciplinary team environments
- Languages: fluent English skills written and spoken, German is a plus
