Welcome to Selwyn Hall School, a vibrant new SEN school nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Foxton, South West of Cambridge. We specialize in providing tailored education for 7-18 year olds facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH). Our students may have various diagnoses, including ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety, and more.

Our unique approach features small, bespoke groupings of just 4-6 children, ensuring each pupil receives the personalized attention they need to thrive. With expansive private grounds, we offer a therapeutic environment that promotes health and wellbeing, complete with outdoor learning experiences like forest school, a multi-use sports pitch, and sensory trails.

As part of the Polaris Community, we have been dedicated to transforming the lives of young people for over 30 years. Our six SEN schools across the UK collaborate to provide a diverse and supportive educational experience, all rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.

As a vital member of our team, you will:

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six.
• Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurriculars and school trips.
• Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set and mark work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with your pupils to foster engagement and learning.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
• Skills in behavior management and techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
• A readiness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
