Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist with a strong background in the construction industry. This role is responsible for processing and submitting certified payroll reportsin compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage regulations. The ideal candidate brings a high level of accuracy, regulatory knowledge, and experience supporting public works and private construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements
- Ensure compliance with DIR, Davis-Bacon Act, and applicable labor regulations
- Process weekly construction payroll, including union and non-union employees
- Maintain accurate records for wages, fringe benefits, classifications, and deductions
- Verify employee work classifications, wage determinations, and job cost allocations
- Coordinate and track labor compliance documentation, including statements of compliance
- Respond to payroll audits and labor compliance inquiries from agencies and general contractors
- Partner with HR, project managers, and accounting to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to internal controls and company policies
- 3+ years of certified payroll experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting
- Experience supporting public works or government-funded projects
- Proficiency with payroll systems and construction accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a compliance-driven environment
- Experience submitting certified payroll through DIR or similar platforms
- Union payroll experience and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Based in Pasadena, CA
- Onsite schedule
- Competitive compensation based on experience- $35-$38/hr
