Join Our Team!At Freedom Networks , we’re on the lookout for passionate Jointers to join our dynamic team! You’ll play a vital role in cable jointing works on paper/lead and polymeric cables, supporting the upgrade and replacement of substation equipment. Your work will ensure safe, high-quality networks that our customers can rely on, all while promoting our company’s positive image.
Your RoleBased in the Scottish Power DNO region of North West England and North Wales, you’ll be responsible for:
- Installing power cable joints and terminations on underground or substation cable systems, switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment, operating from LV up to 33kV.
- Progressing to "Authorised Person" status under SPEN's Safety Rules, enabling you to:
- Access substations with live exposed conductors.
- Receive permits to work.
- Supervise working parties.
- Promoting best practices and innovative ideas.
- Maintaining all company property, ensuring it is routinely PAT or calibration tested, and reporting any issues promptly.
- Assisting technical staff with cable identification, spiking, phasing, and pressure testing of power cable systems from LV up to 33kV.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Experience in LV/HV cable jointing or HV fitting.
- A minimum of 2 years of practical or craft skills experience using hand tools.
- Basic operational knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems.
- A site safety passport and/or experience working on CDM sites.
- A Manual Handling Certificate.
- DNO Authorisations for SPEN (or equivalent) - desirable.
- A full driving licence.
