Job Description Software Engineering Project Management is responsible for leading the execution of programs consisting of single or multiple projects. This group works within the constraints of budget, schedule and scope while managing and communicating risk and ensuring adherence to established processes and methodologies. BD is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed intern for Summer 2025 to support Portfolio operations for Agile software development teams. The ideal candidate will be based in or around the San Diego area, working remotely. The candidate is a professional who has worked in the PMO for a company that develops enterprise-class software applications and has worked with collaborators cross functionally to deliver on tasks and objectives. The intern should have strong time management and analysis skills with an ability to pull together ideas and suggestions, and then implement in the project plans. The candidate must be a highly effective communicator and problem-solver and be skilled in leading and managing change. The selected candidate will bring new ideas, creativity and perspectives to our organization. They will lead by example, with leadership focused on accountability, collaboration, and transparency. They will also nurture a sense of camaraderie, success and appreciation amongst the team, and find opportunities to improve performance and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates foundational knowledge of project and program management principles.
Uses project management tools to manage small to medium scale projects and programs.
Defines and manages scope, time and resources of complex projects or programs.
Facilitates identification of project or program risks/issues, develops and assigns responsibility for mitigation/resolution actions; manages mitigation plan.
Refines project management methodologies for quality and project or program risk management.
Synthesizes critical information and communicates business implications to partners.
Consults with the senior management team and non-technology organization personnel.
Has knowledge of experience in project management; integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities.
Acts as a key contributor in a complex environment.
Is passionate about developing and employing processes, templates and mechanisms to support PMO execution and governance.
Measures project performance through Metrics and KPIs.
Minimum Qualifications
Pursuing Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Holds a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology, business major or healthcare related major.
Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Available to work full time (40 hours per week) during summer break, remotely.
Effective writing, speaking, and presentation skills required.
Understanding of software development work, practices and culture.
Skilled in meeting facilitation, action item traction and follow up.
Experience leading cross-functional teams toward operational objectives.
Willing to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic goal-setting for a team.
Ability to manage others when needed and set priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
This position will engage with business partners to handle and deliver clinically-oriented data analytics applications and services.
Knowledge of delivering products within an end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Knowledge and application of Agile software development principles.
Knowledge of OnePlan Portfolio Management.
Hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Previous experience in similar internships, co-ops or professional roles.
