We are working with an independent small animal practice located in Bristol who are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse.
The role will involve all aspects of nursing so you must be capable in all areas, pulling from your experience in a small animal practice. You will have the ability to balance empathising with clients and maintaining your professionalism. You will be prepared to develop your skills by working closely with the whole team and must have an excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Your general nursing skills will involve assisting in operating theatre, emergency operations, in-patient care, laboratory work and nurse consultations.
The role is full time with weekend shifts on a rota. The practice can consider part time hours if the candidate is able to take part in the OOH rota.
The OOH service is not very busy and the practice provides a comfortable nurse pod inside the hospital. On average, the team takes 2 to 3 calls per night which are passed straight to the vet for a Telemed consultation so that they can assess the situation fully before moving it to the wider team. This usually stops time wasters and leaves them with real emergencies only. You will probably see 1 out of the 3 calls on an odd occasion.
