Primary Responsibilities
Behavior Support Implementation
- Implement individualized behavior support plans as directed by the BCBA.
- Model and reinforce pro-social, adaptive, and trauma-informed behavioral practices.
- Utilize appropriate de-escalation strategies during emotional or behavioral escalations.
Healthy Behavior Practices
- Promote and support daily routines such as personal hygiene, hydration, physical activity, skill practice, coping strategies, and healthy social engagement.
- Provide coaching related to emotional regulation, coping tools, and independence-based activities.
Environmental Enrichment
- Facilitate structured and meaningful activities including sensory, recreational, cognitive-stimulation, and life-skills enrichment.
- Adjust environmental factors to reduce behavioral triggers and enhance comfort and engagement.
Behavior & Healthy Practice Observations
- Conduct regular observation periods during the 2 PM–10 PM shift.
- Collect accurate, objective behavioral data and monitor engagement in healthy behavior practices.
- Document antecedents, behaviors, consequences, and environmental variables to support BCBA treatment planning.
- Provide coaching and feedback to direct care staff.
Skill Acquisition Sessions (New Responsibility Added)
- Complete skill acquisition training sessions 1–2 times per week for clients identified as needing these supports.
- Implement BCBA-designed skill acquisition programs focused on functional skills, daily living skills, coping strategies, or communication skills.
- Record detailed session notes, progress data, and any barriers to acquisition.
- Ensure skill acquisition activities occur during the assigned shift for consistency.
Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain regular communication with the BCBA regarding client progress, challenges, and any observed changes in behavior.
- Participate in team debriefings, training, and clinical meetings as required.
- Provide clear handoff communication at the end of each shift.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all agency, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, documentation, and client rights.
- Support crisis plans and behavior interventions as trained.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, or related field is preferred
At least one year of experience in behavioral health, TBI support, or related settings.
Ability to collect accurate data and follow structured intervention plans.
Strong communication skills and professionalism under pressure.
