POSITION SUMMARY:
A Chef Instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education is tasked with both delivered our award-winning education, and inspiring students and peers alike. A senior instructor models the level of professionalism that is an example to others and takes the time to mentor and train students. They are emblematic of the best qualities from both the hospitality and education fields.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Motivate and guide aspiring culinary professionals to find their culinary voice.
Motivate and guide peers to greater success in teaching and expertise in their field.
Train faculty in curriculum mastery and teaching skill as required.
Represent ICE in marketing opportunities and out-of-campus events as required.
Represent ICE for on-campus events as required (such as, but not limited to: Open-house, demonstrations, special events).
Conduct in-classroom demonstrations as required by curriculum.
Demonstrate techniques and concepts as required by the curriculum.
Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures both in-person and online.
Assess student and faculty performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations.
Maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
Assure classes are conducted in a manner that complies with principles of food safety and sanitation.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
Attend meetings and faculty orientation as required.
Attend and assist at annual commencement ceremony.
Other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Formal culinary arts or pastry arts education.
Must possess a solid foundation of culinary and/or pastry & baking knowledge, with a strong desire for continued learning.
Minimum of seven (7) years culinary or pastry & baking experience with some supervisory responsibilities.
Fine Dining experience highly preferred.
College-level teaching experience highly preferred.
Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
