*Job Description*
Setup, configure and repair staff computers, laptops and mobile devices to ensure optimal performance. Setup and configure user accounts and applications software. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, provide end-user support, both on-site and remotely. Manage IT inventory, cyber security, and provide IT training.
Assist Barr + Wray’s IT support company with IT infrastructure troubleshooting, setup and configuration and maintenance work.
*Main Duties*
* *Troubleshooting and support:* Diagnose and resolve hardware/software faults, network connectivity issues, and peripheral device problems (printers, scanners).
* *System installation:* Set up and configure hardware (PCs, laptops, mobile devices) and software. Install and configure application software from Microsoft, Autodesk, Adobe and others.
* *System maintenance:* Maintain PCs, laptops, mobile devices operating system and applications software at the latest firmware/software update level.
* *User account management:* Manage, set up, and troubleshoot user accounts, permissions, and passwords. Remove former staff user accounts.
* *Security and data protection:* Perform regular backups, implement data security measures and investigate/deal with cyber threats.
* *Documentation:* Maintain existing IT procedures. Create new IT procedures.
* *Training:* Provide new and existing staff with IT training.
* *Hardware:* Identify replacement equipment for end-of-life hardware.
* *Software licencing:* Manage and renew software licences.
*Practical Skills & Experience*
* *Technical knowledge:* Solid understanding of computer systems, networks (LAN/WAN), operating systems (Windows), and hardware components. Microsoft 365 administrator level experience. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Understanding of databases and SQL code.
* *Problem-Solving:* Strong diagnostic skills to identify and fix technical issues efficiently.
* *Communication:* Excellent interpersonal skills to assist non-technical users.
* *Experience and Education: *Typically requires 2+ years of experience in IT support, often paired with a degree in computer science or related certifications.
*Required Characteristics*
* Reliable and self-motivated individual.
* Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple requests and work unsupervised
*Specific Job Requirements*
* Proven experience as an Senior IT Technician or relevant role.
* Physical ability to install, lift, and move computer equipment.
*Location *Glasgow Office. Occasional visits to Barr + Wray’s Dubai office.
*Salary *Dependent on experience
