Role: Lead Network Engineer Location: Boise, ID (100% Onsite) Role Overview We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership across a large-scale enterprise network environment. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and validating network solutions across data center, WAN, campus, and security-integrated infrastructure. This is a high-impact, hands-on role requiring deep expertise in modern networking technologies, strong ownership of engineering deliverables, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear updates for leadership. You will act as a final point of validation for network designs and changes, while also helping define processes and best practices as the organization continues to modernize its infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Ownership Serve as the technical lead for enterprise network engineering initiatives Act as the final validation point for network designs, configurations, and deployments Drive engineering standards, documentation, and process improvements Partner with leadership to communicate technical strategies, risks, and progress clearly Mentor engineers and guide cross-functional teams Enterprise Network Engineering Design, implement, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure including: Arista switching environments (Layer 2 / Layer 3) Cisco Catalyst routing and switching platforms WAN and SD-WAN solutions (hands-on deployment and operations required) Data center networking (VXLAN / EVPN preferred) Campus and wireless infrastructure Security & Network Integration Work closely with security teams and lead network security integration efforts: Palo Alto firewalls (deep hands-on expertise required) Firewall policy design, optimization, and governance Network segmentation and zero trust architecture Integration with enterprise security platforms Core Infrastructure Services Manage and optimize Infoblox (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) environments Support WAN optimization and performance tools such as Riverbed Network Observability & Reliability Improve network visibility, monitoring, and troubleshooting capabilities Perform deep-dive troubleshooting across complex, multi-vendor environments Support capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives Automation & Modernization Support network automation initiatives using APIs and scripting Contribute to infrastructure modernization and scalability efforts Collaborate with teams using platforms such as: Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) Arista CloudVision Automation frameworks (Python, Ansible, etc.) Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering Strong hands-on expertise with: Arista Networks switching (L2/L3) SD-WAN (implementation and operations) Infoblox Riverbed WAN optimization Palo Alto Networks firewalls (policy management, architecture) Deep understanding of: BGP, OSPF, and enterprise routing Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking concepts Proven experience working in large-scale enterprise environments Preferred Qualifications Experience with VXLAN / EVPN data center architectures Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) or Arista CloudVision Exposure to network automation (Python, APIs, Ansible) Experience integrating networking with cloud environments Leadership Expectations Strong ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders High energy and ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives forward Experience defining processes and improving engineering workflows Ability to lead through influence in cross-functional environments
