About

The role of Controller at this client requires a strategic financial leader with a strong focus on operational excellence and team development. The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and supervise the accounting team, overseeing the financial reporting functions for the client and its subsidiaries. This position is crucial for optimizing financial processes, enhancing compliance and controls, modernizing systems, and providing clear financial insights to leadership. The Controller will establish and ensure adherence to appropriate accounting and financial policies, procedures, and practices to safeguard the clients assets.

Key responsibilities for this position include financial strategy and planning, financial reporting and analysis, leadership and management of the accounting team, as well as technology and process improvement. The Controller will work with the CFO and other organizational leaders to develop multi-year budgets, forecasts, and scenario analyses aligned with strategic goals. They will also assist in developing, documenting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and attend committee and board meetings. Monthly financial reports such as Statement of Activities, Statement of Financial Position, and Cash Flow Statement will be prepared, and the Controller will assist the CFO in presenting these reports to the relevant boards and committees. Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for managing IRS Form 1099 and 990 preparations and ensuring timely filing of the Annual Financial Report. The position also involves leadership and team development aspects, such as managing and mentoring accounting staff, conducting performance evaluations, and providing vendor and staff support. The Controller will lead the integration of financial technologies to enhance automation, accuracy, and reporting. They will also streamline financial workflows to reduce manual work while improving data accuracy and reporting cycles. This role requires collaboration with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and staying current on regulations and best practices. Cash and investment management responsibilities include overseeing cash management, forecasting, and managing investment data entry and gain/loss calculations. xihmbke Candidates for this role must possess a Bachelors degree in Accounting, with a CPA or CFA designation preferred, and have a minimum of eight years of progressive accounting experience.
