This role offers full-spectrum vascular surgery in a tertiary and quaternary referral center, with active involvement in education and scholarship.
GMC houses a mature academic vascular surgery program with 7 full-time vascular surgeons and 7 advanced practice providers. Geisinger has maintained ACGME accreditation for its Vascular Fellowship since 1991 and launched an Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency in 2023, graduating three vascular trainees annually.
The vascular service operates in two dedicated hybrid ORs with additional open vascular OR access and serves as a regional referral center supported by seven medical helicopters.
Clinical Scope
Complex thoracic, abdominal, and thoracoabdominal endovascular aortic interventions (including TAMBE)
Open aortic surgery
Advanced cerebrovascular interventions, including carotid stenting
Complex lower-extremity revascularization and limb salvage
Early-career faculty are supported in developing high-volume practices with mentorship and access to complex referrals.
Responsibilities
Provide full-spectrum vascular surgical care (inpatient and outpatient)
Participate in shared call
Teach and mentor vascular residents, fellows, general surgery residents, and medical students
Engage in academic activity aligned with individual interests
Geisinger provides strong infrastructure for outcomes research, quality improvement, clinical trials, and device-based innovation, with access to large integrated datasets and institutional research support.
Qualifications
MD or DO
Completion of an ACGME-accredited vascular surgery training program
Board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Surgery
Eligible for Pennsylvania medical licensure
Academic Rank, Compensation, and Benefits
