Overview Under the leadership of the IT Program Manager, the IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering IT projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third‑party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to a defined charter. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and its application to solving business problems, viewing obstacles as exciting challenges that demand creative solutions. The IT Project Manager will engage with all stakeholders of the project, including business analysts, end users, and technology teams, to define objectives and scope and oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle.
This position requires close collaboration with other groups within the Information Services department to ensure IT projects align with the firm’s overall information technology strategy and information security landscape. The IT Project Manager is typically responsible for managing all aspects of multiple complex projects and processes, delivering innovative solutions to business problems.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage IT projects from start to finish. Track project milestones, deliverables, and risks. Define project success metrics and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
In collaboration with management and stakeholders, define project scope, goals, requirements, and deliverables that support business goals. Develop full‑scale project plans and associated communications documents.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Monitor, mentor, and motivate project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Proactively manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans.
Conduct project post‑mortems and document successful and unsuccessful project elements. Develop best practices, project standards, procedures, and quality objectives for assessing progress.
Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of IT projects. Partner with other groups in IS to ensure technology solutions fit within the firm’s overall IT and information security landscape.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
Law firm experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP) recommended.
Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, and enterprise IT platforms.
Understanding of system, application, and network architecture.
Demonstrated experience in personnel management, coaching, and mentoring.
Familiarity with information security/risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and with legal/regulated‑data considerations.
Familiarity with common AI tools such as Copilot.
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Demonstrates excellent professional presence and business acumen.
Analytical and conceptual thinker with experience developing creative, strategic solutions for business problems.
Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
Goal oriented with high standards for quality, performance and excellent attention to detail.
High comfort level working in a continually changing environment and managing multiple competing priorities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple activities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non‑technical personnel.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a multi‑office environment.
Essential Capabilities
Technology Expertise – must have solid working knowledge of a variety of technologies including, but not limited to, infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, collaboration technologies, Microsoft solution stack, database systems, and IT service management frameworks.
Must be able to get consensus and collaborate across many business units; ability to explain complex concepts in non‑technical terms; ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff establishing straightforward productive relationships. Strong consultative and customer service skills are essential.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job‑related, non‑discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
Boston: $134,700 - $205,450
New York: $145,800 - $222,350
Working Conditions This position requires hybrid on‑site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on‑site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
