Software Development Engineer - Elasticache, AWS ElastiCache

Build the next-generation in-memory database services with AWS ElastiCache, a fully‑managed, high‑throughput, low‑latency data store compatible with Valkey, Redis OSS, and Memcached. AWS MemoryDB is a Valkey and Redis OSS compatible, durable, in‑memory database service delivering ultra‑fast performance for micro‑services applications.

The AWS In‑Memory Databases team creates low‑latency and fast‑performance NoSQL systems using data storage, distributed computing, and other computer science domains. We focus on sub‑millisecond latency at scale and influence the direction of NoSQL systems throughout the industry.

• Design and implement horizontal and vertical scaling, data replication, data sharding, and migration algorithms for in‑memory stores.

• Implement robust authentication and authorization protocols.

• Collaborate with the Valkey OSS community to contribute new features and performance optimizations to the open‑source project.

• Participate in on‑call rotations, typically on a 2‑3 month cycle, and conduct proactive operational gap investigations.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience programming in at least one software language.
• Experience designing or architecting reliable, scalable systems.
• Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles.

• Experience with full software development life cycle: coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience programming with C, C++, or Rust.
