About the Position

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst for a 6 month contract opportunity, joining a high-impact data transformation programme. You will play a central role in a strategic initiative to migrate data assets from SaaS platforms to Databricks on Azure, working as part of a collaborative data team of five.

This is a hands-on senior role requiring a blend of strong analytical capability, technical depth, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis and interpretation of complex data sets in line with business requirements and programme objectives.
  • Drive end-to-end requirements gathering and data mapping activities, translating business needs into clear technical specifications.
  • Manage scope effectively across workstreams, handling change requests in a structured and transparent manner.
  • Partner closely with the Engineering team to support development activities, providing analytical input and ensuring data solutions meet business intent.
  • Contribute to data migration workstreams, supporting the transition of data assets from SaaS platforms to Databricks on Azure.
  • Design and execute testing strategies to validate data quality, integrity, and alignment with requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Investigate and resolve issues in data pipelines, source systems, and analytical outputs, escalating where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain data visualisations and dashboards using Power BI to support business reporting and decision-making.
  • Facilitate and lead requirements workshops with stakeholders at various levels, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
  • Document business cases, solution designs, and project artefacts, supporting delivery from inception through to go-live.
  • Apply business process modelling techniques to identify gaps and opportunities within existing data workflows.

Experience/Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in a Data Analyst or similar data-focused role.
  • Proven experience delivering transformational data projects, ideally involving large-scale data migrations or platform modernisation.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and data mapping, with an ability to work across complex, multi-source data environments.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies, including the design and execution of test plans and test cases for data solutions.
  • Proficiency in Power BI for data visualisation, reporting, and dashboard development.
  • Track record of investigating and resolving issues across data pipelines, source systems, and code.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working as part of cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Databricks experience — working with lakehouse architectures, notebooks, and Delta Lake.
  • Azure cloud platform experience, including services relevant to data and analytics workloads (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, ADLS).
  • Data warehousing experience, including dimensional modelling and ETL/ELT design principles.
  • Agile delivery experience, with comfort working within sprint-based, iterative delivery frameworks.
  • Stakeholder management capabilities, including facilitating workshops, managing expectations, and communicating across business and technical teams.
  • Experience documenting business cases and managing projects from inception through design to delivery.
  • Familiarity with SaaS data platforms is advantageous but not required — what matters is the ability to understand source systems and migration patterns.
  • Background in MedTech, health insurance, or a regulated industry is a plus. xcfaprz
