Job purpose
As Workshop Manager you will oversee the daily operations of our busy vehicle workshop. You will be responsible for managing the workflow, allocating jobs to technicians, and ensuring that all service and repair work is completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role is vital in maintaining productivity, customer satisfaction, and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This role is expected to grow and evolve over time and whilst the key responsibilities for the role are outlined below, they are not limited to same
- Distribute repair and maintenance jobs effectively among technicians based on skills, availability, and priorities
- Monitor progress of work throughout the day, ensuring deadlines are met and updates are communicated to service advisors and customers
- Liaise with the service reception and parts department to coordinate workflow and minimize downtime
Quality & Efficiency Control
- Check completed jobs for quality and accuracy before vehicle release
- Ensure all work is completed according to manufacturer guidelines and workshop policies
- Promote high standards of housekeeping, safety, and compliance in the workshop
- Provide daily leadership and motivation to the technician team including monthly toolbox talks
- Support the training and development of technicians and apprentices
- Assist in diagnosing complex faults and provide technical guidance when required
- Work closely with service advisors to ensure customers are kept informed throughout the repair process
- Handle technical queries or escalations in a professional and timely manner
- Support efforts to achieve high customer satisfaction and first-time fix rates
- Ensure accurate job card completion and recording of time, parts used, and technician comments
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on workshop productivity, efficiency, and performance metrics
- Ensure all health and safety and environmental regulations are adhered to
- Regular catch ups with Service and Sales Manager to prioritise vehicles through the workshop.
Person specification
As the ideal candidate you will demonstrate a strong, stable and productive career within the Automotive industry with a desire to achieve greatness and be the best in your field and have proven experience in a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, or similar supervisory role within an automotive, HGV, or PSV environment. xcfaprz
You must have relevant experience and be a qualified HGV or LGV Technician, a resident in Ireland with full rights to work in the EU.
