Job Overview
This role owns and shapes our Microsoft-based database platforms-onprem and in Azure. You'll be responsible for keeping data platforms stable, secure, fast, and recoverable, while also making them easier to operate and ready for what's next. You'll work with a "service mindset," partnering closely with application teams and business stakeholders. That means anticipating needs, solving problems before they become incidents, and following through on what you commit to.
Highlights of your role
Own the health, reliability, and daytoday operation of SQL Server environments across production, test, and development
Design, run, and improve Azure database platforms (Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance) with an emphasis on availability and scale Monitor platforms proactively, troubleshoot issues, and lead incident response through resolution and root-cause analysis Improve performance, resilience, and efficiency through tuning, upgrades, patching, and thoughtful platform changes Build, test, and evolve backup, recovery, and disasterrecovery solutions Reduce technical debt by improving automation, standards, tooling, and operational processes Partner with developers and infrastructure teams on application design, performance tuning, and data architecture Document how things work-standards, runbooks, and processes-and keep them current
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
5+ years administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments Strong TSQL skills, including performance tuning and query optimization Hands-on experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions Comfort supporting Windows Server-based database platforms (Linux experience is a plus) Experience with Azure PaaS database services is a strong plus Automation or scripting experience, especially PowerShell A problemsolver's mindset with the ability to juggle priorities without dropping the ball Clear communication and documentation habits-you leave things better than you found them Nice to have:
Oracle database experience and broader cloud platform exposure.
