About
The Charge RN is responsible for supervising and supporting nursing staff during each shift, including delegating assignments based on patient acuity and staff competencies, monitoring workload and staffing needs, and assisting with complex or high-risk patient care. You will actively participate in patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and evaluation of patient responses, maintaining strong clinical skills while also managing the broader operations of the unit. This position requires excellent critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent and emergent situations.
Working within Piedmont Healthcare’s culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork, the Charge RN will champion evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and quality and safety initiatives. You will help drive performance improvement efforts, ensure adherence to policies and procedures, support infection prevention practices, and promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Charge RN will also play a key role in onboarding, mentoring, and coaching nurses and support staff, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages learning, professional growth, and collaboration.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can effectively coordinate with physicians, ancillary departments, and leadership to resolve issues, address patient and family concerns, and support smooth unit operations. You will be expected to participate in huddles and staff meetings, contribute to problem-solving and decision-making, and escalate concerns appropriately to nursing leadership. With a focus on patient-centered care, you will advocate for patients and families, provide education, and ensure that care plans are clearly communicated and understood.
