About

Senior PHP Engineer

OneTouch is seeking a senior PHP software engineer to build and modernize customer‑critical capabilities in the OneTouch platform by incrementally migrating legacy PHP into well‑structured Laravel services, improving reliability, performance, and maintainability in a multi‑tenant environment. In addition, this role will be responsible for feature development and working as a lead developer for a full stack scrum team focused on specific platform functions.

  • Salary: DOE
  • Duration: Full Time, Permanent
  • Location: Galway, Ireland (Hybrid)
  • Department: Development
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver features in Laravel while progressively extracting/rewriting legacy PHP into modular components.
  • Refactor legacy code: introduce clear boundaries, reusable domain modules, and consistent patterns.
  • Improve data access: reduce over‑fetching, optimise slow queries, and safely work around/through legacy schemas and stored procedures.
  • Strengthen multi‑tenant safety: enforce tenant isolation, permissions, auditability, and secure defaults.
  • Raise engineering quality: tests where it matters (unit/integration), code reviews, CI discipline, pragmatic documentation.
  • Partner with product, QA, and ops to ship predictably and reduce incidents/regressions.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Strong PHP and Laravel experience (real production delivery).
  • Practical experience modernising legacy systems (strangler pattern, incremental refactor, migrations without “big bang” rewrites).
  • Solid SQL skills (performance tuning, query plans, indexes basics, working with ugly schemas).
  • Testing mindset and ability to improve quality without slowing delivery.
  • Clear communicator; comfortable working in a PE‑backed, outcome‑driven environment.
  • Experience with multi‑tenant SaaS patterns and data partitioning strategies.
  • Observability mindset (logging, metrics, tracing) and production debugging.
  • API design (REST), auth patterns (OAuth/JWT), and background jobs/queues.
  • AWS experience (or similar cloud), containerisation, CI/CD familiarity. xcfaprz
Benefits – What Will You Get in Return?
  • High‑impact role in a PE‑backed healthcare SaaS business
  • Work on software that directly improves care quality and safety
  • Collaborative, ownership‑driven engineering culture
  • Hybrid working
  • Competitive compensation
  • Pension, health insurance, income protection
  • Generous annual leave
  • Active sports & social programme
