This is not a tick-box design coordination job. You will own the entire design process on high-profile, technically demanding projects in Dublin, with direct access to senior leadership and the autonomy to make real decisions. What You Will Be Doing:
Leading and managing the full design process from pre-construction through to project completion
Ensuring all drawings and design information are developed, reviewed, approved, and issued in line with the project programme
Reviewing designs for buildability, coordination, compliance, and risk before they reach site
Acting as the main point of contact for clients on all design-related matters
Liaising with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams to maintain alignment and clarity
Identifying, assessing, and managing design risks including coordination clashes, programme risks, and construction impacts
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation, including duties under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations
Ensuring all designs meet Irish building regulations, industry codes of practice, and sustainability standards
Chairing design team meetings, workshops, and coordination meetings
Preparing design reports, progress updates, and presentations for clients and senior management
Supporting and mentoring junior design and project team members
What You Need:
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline
Significant experience in a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager role within the construction industry
Main contractor experience is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, health and safety legislation, and sustainable building standards
Proven experience on complex, multi-disciplinary construction projects
Excellent xcfaprz communication and stakeholder management skillsConfidence chairing meetings and presenting to clients and senior stakeholders
A structured, methodical approach with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple design interfaces and deadlines simultaneously
Proficiency with CDE platforms and design management tools
