Respiratory Therapist

UF Health is seeking a skilled and patient-centered Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Gainesville, Florida. As part of a leading academic health center, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across a variety of acuity levels, including emergency, intensive care, and general medical-surgical settings. In this role, you will perform detailed respiratory assessments, develop and implement care plans in collaboration with physicians and nurses, and deliver therapies such as oxygen administration, aerosol and nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and non-invasive and invasive ventilator support. You will obtain, analyze, and interpret arterial blood gases, adjust ventilator settings based on clinical status and established protocols, and respond promptly to respiratory distress, rapid responses, and code situations using evidence-based practices. The Respiratory Therapist will conduct and document pulmonary function tests and bedside spirometry as appropriate, ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, and maintain meticulous infection control practices, including cleaning, calibration, and safe operation of respiratory care equipment. You will play a key role in patient and family education, helping individuals understand their respiratory conditions, medications, and use of equipment such as inhalers, nebulizers, and home oxygen devices, while reinforcing smoking cessation and disease management strategies.
