RT

UF Health is seeking a skilled RT to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Gainesville, Florida. As part of a leading academic health center, the RT will provide high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care to patients across diverse clinical settings, including critical care, emergency, and general inpatient units. The RT will assess patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary disorders, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive respiratory assessments, administering and monitoring oxygen therapy, bronchodilator and other aerosolized medications, and managing non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation. The RT will obtain, analyze, and interpret arterial blood gases; adjust ventilator and therapy settings according to clinical status and established protocols; and provide airway management, including suctioning, tracheostomy care, and assistance with intubation as appropriate. The role also includes performing and supporting pulmonary function and bedside spirometry testing, participating in emergency responses such as codes and rapid response activations, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record. The RT will play an active role in patient and family education, explaining respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care techniques to support safe transitions of care.
