About

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Charge Nurse to provide clinical and operational leadership within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Charge Nurse, you will coordinate and oversee daily patient care activities on your assigned unit, serving as a clinical resource and role model for nursing and support staff. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary teams to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care for a diverse patient population.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for organizing patient assignments, monitoring staffing levels, and adjusting resources based on patient acuity and unit needs. You will support bedside nurses with clinical decision-making, assist with complex procedures, and help resolve issues that arise during the shift. The Charge Nurse promotes adherence to evidence-based practice, infection prevention standards, and all regulatory and organizational policies while actively participating in performance improvement initiatives.
Aligned with Piedmont Healthcare’s culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork, the Charge Nurse fosters a supportive and inclusive environment in which staff feel empowered to speak up, collaborate, and grow professionally. You will provide real-time coaching, mentorship, and feedback to nursing team members, assist with onboarding and precepting new staff, and help identify opportunities for continuing education and skills development. You will also serve as a key communicator, ensuring that critical information is effectively relayed between shifts, across disciplines, and to patients and families.
Daily responsibilities include conducting patient care rounds, prioritizing and delegating tasks appropriately, and promoting effective communication with patients and families regarding care plans, treatments, and discharge needs. The Charge Nurse helps to anticipate and respond to changes in patient condition, supports rapid response and emergency interventions, and ensures appropriate documentation and follow-up. You will collaborate with case management, social work, and other services to coordinate safe, timely discharges and transitions of care.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced acute care environment. You should be comfortable leading a team, advocating for patients and staff, and using data and feedback to drive quality and safety. Piedmont Healthcare offers opportunities for ongoing training, leadership development, and career advancement, allowing you to grow your skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families across Georgia.
