Job Summary You will be the Electromechanical Design Engineer for the Common Command Flight Termination System (FTS) team. Our team leads the IRAD and ModSTAR initiatives that create reusable, high‑reliability hardware for flight termination applications across all future Lockheed Martin missile programs.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed 3‑D models, 2‑D drawings and electromechanical layouts for the ISD
Select materials, components and manufacturing processes that satisfy size, weight, power and environmental constraints
Create and maintain Bills of Materials, obtain vendor quotes and coordinate build with internal shops and external suppliers
Define acceptance test criteria, execute verification tests and document results for each hardware iteration
Conduct thermal, shock, vibration and EMI analyses to ensure compliance with flight termination standards
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support cross‑functional integration activities
Maintain configuration control and design documentation in Lockheed Martin PLM tools
Support prototype fabrication, assembly, inspection and lab testing
Travel as needed to supplier sites or program milestones to validate hardware performance
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience
Experience with MFC circuit card and printed wiring board packaging design
Experience with Technical Data Package generation including BoM creation in Windchill, 2‑D drawings, and 3‑D modeling
Experience using PTC Creo and Windchill or equivalent for electro‑mechanical design and product lifecycle management tools
Desired Skills
Experience designing electronics packaging for Flight Termination Systems
Design Assurance processes
Working knowledge of Zuken
Flex circuit design
Location This position is in Orlando, Florida. It is located at a facility that requires special access and the selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Security Clearance Secret clearance required. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Work Schedule & Remote Telework Part‑time remote telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of the schedule remotely and part at the designated Lockheed Martin facility. The schedule is 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
