Application Developer
( Information Technology Analyst 2 ) to join the Workers\' Compensation Commission (WCC). This role collaborates with other Application Developers, participates in cross-training, and progressively assumes responsibility for supporting and enhancing applications with available source code and documentation. This position supports modernization efforts and produces high quality technical documentation for long-term maintainability.

The Role
The Workers\' Compensation Commission administers state workers\' compensation laws. The
Application Developer
will support modernization efforts by migrating legacy applications to current platforms, enable the agency to advance its modernization strategy, and improve services to Connecticut residents. Environment includes legacy and modern technologies (PowerBuilder, SQL Server, Visual Basic).
The
Application Developer (Information Technology Analyst 2)
will: Be part of a team focused on application development, production support, database administration, and workforce enablement Perform application design, development, maintenance, and support Partner with technical and non-technical staff at all levels Gather needs, produce functional requirements, develop/test applications and integrations, and report statuses/time estimates Prepare development, testing, and production environments and promote code between environments Investigate and resolve production issues Create and maintain training documentation for users Learn and cross-train with other developers
The successful candidate will contribute to modernization and improve services for residents. Contributions should help ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and effective.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General Experience : Six (6) years in IT operations, programming, systems/software development, or related IT support. Special Experience : One (1) year of general experience in professional IT work (e.g., installation/support of microcomputer hardware/software/OS; analysis, design, development of information systems; network installation/support; related IT functions). Note: For state employees, experience is interpreted at IT Analyst 1 level. Substitutions : College credits may substitute for General Experience. Master\'s degree may substitute for one additional year of General Experience.
Minimum Qualifications
– General Experience: Six years of IT experience. Minimum Qualifications – Special Experience: One year at the General Experience level in relevant IT work. Note: interpretation for state employees at IT Analyst 1.
Preferred Qualifications : Experience maintaining legacy applications, .NET technologies (C#, VB), SQL Server queries/stored procedures, and leading modernization/migration projects; experience creating/updating system specifications, user guides, or workflows.
