Reporting to the Director of the Project Management Office (PMO), the IT Project Manager leads and coordinates cross-functional technology projects from concept through delivery, ensuring projects are planned, executed, and monitored using modern project management practices and delivering solutions on time, within budget, and with measurable value.
Essential Functions
Project Planning & Execution - 30% Coordinates and facilitates end-to-end project lifecycle activities for small to medium size projects, including initiation, design, development, testing, deployment, and closeout; develops detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations; maintains project documentation and ensures compliance with governance; anticipates risks, implements mitigation strategies, and manages constraints and dependencies; escalates risks to leadership as appropriate.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication - 20% Serves as the primary point of contact for project sponsors, business units, and technical teams; facilitates project meetings, status updates, and decision-making sessions; schedules project team meetings, circulates agendas, documents items, follows up on action items; translates moderately technical concepts into clear, business-friendly communication.
Team Leadership & Collaboration - 20% Motivates project teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and accountability; coordinates with IT infrastructure, applications, security, and vendor partners; resolves conflicts at the lowest level and enlists leadership as needed; removes project roadblocks; promotes a collaborative environment; provides training and guidance to junior team members.
Technology & Vendor Management - 15% Collaborates and coordinates vendor relationships, contracts, and deliverables; researches applicable laws and policies; facilitates processes to ensure systems meet architecture, security, and compliance standards; supports testing, quality assurance, and change management to ensure smooth transitions to production.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting - 15% Tracks project progress, milestones, and KPIs; prepares and presents reports to leadership and governance committees; conducts post‑implementation reviews to capture lessons learned; creates and maintains project dashboards and performs related activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and two (2) years of IT Project Management experience in an area related to the assignment.
Or an equivalent combination of degree, education, certification, and full‑time work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
Desired Qualifications
Experience managing IT projects involving cloud solutions, infrastructure upgrades, system integrations, or enterprise applications.
Experience incorporating change management activities into the project management approach and embedding continuous improvement.
Experience facilitating the definition of problem statements and shaping project requirements with key stakeholders.
Experience solving moderately complex problems involving technology and human elements.
Possession of relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PMI‑ACP, ITIL, ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent).
One (1) year of full‑time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years.
Special Working Conditions
Mandatory minimum in‑office expectation of two days per week, subject to change.
Candidate must reside in the Phoenix area or relocate within six months of hire.
May involve after‑hours work and non‑regular business hours.
May require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
May require presentation in large meetings and sponsored events.
ITS does not sponsor work visas.
