About
*1. About Aether Aerospace*
Aether Aerospace is a South Wales-based drone development and service delivery company operating primarily in the defence and security sectors. We design, build, test, and operate uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) for demanding customers who need reliable capability in the field — spanning threat simulation, pilot training, logistics delivery, and beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations.
Our in-house engineering team works at pace to close the gap between what users need and what they get, rapidly developing modular solutions under live MoD contracts. We're a small, growing team where people wear multiple hats and take genuine ownership of their work. If you're looking for a role where you can shape how things are done — not just follow a process someone else wrote — this could be a great fit.
*2. About the Role*
Aether is looking for an experienced Project Manager to own the delivery of its projects and programmes. The role spans engineering design, software, manufacturing, testing, and operations — managing concurrent workstreams, coordinating dependencies, and communicating with stakeholders from workshop floor to senior customer level. …;
Aether's work moves quickly, requirements evolve, and we need someone who thrives in that environment. While deep specialism across every domain isn't expected, the right candidate will be comfortable engaging with technical teams, building enough understanding to ask the right questions, and translating between engineering detail and programme-level reporting. This is a growing business, and with that comes the opportunity to shape the role and make it your own.
*3. What You'll Be Doing*
* Planning and managing the delivery of multiple concurrent projects and programmes across engineering, software, manufacturing, and operations
* Coordinating across technical teams to align timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation
* Tracking progress, risks, and blockers across workstreams and ensuring visibility to leadership and customers
* Interpreting customer requirements and translating them into clear project plans with defined milestones and deliverables
* Managing stakeholder communication at all levels — from day-to-day technical coordination through to formal programme reporting
* Supporting procurement, supplier coordination, and third-party delivery where projects require external input
* Balancing competing priorities across the portfolio, escalating trade-offs and resource constraints early
* Identifying and embedding repeatable project management practices as the business scales
*4. What We're Looking For*
* Experience delivering multiple engineering projects or programmes
* Experience managing multiple technical strands
* Confident in interfacing with teams running KANBAN or SCRUM methodologies
* A pragmatic, flexible approach — comfortable adapting to evolving priorities rather than waiting for a fixed specification
* The ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into clear deliverable project outcomes
* Willing to work in UK Defence
* Eligible for UK SC Clearance – depending on the nature of the work, we may require the successful candidate to apply for and obtain SC. Candidates must meet the baseline eligibility criteria, including a minimum of 5 years' UK residency
* Ability to communicate technical ideas to a variety of stakeholders
* Willingness and passion to learn
* Reliability and a strong work ethic
*5. Nice to Have*
* Experience in aerospace, defence or similarly regulated environment
* An understanding of UAS technologies and the specific challenges of small-batch or prototype production
* Experience working with software teams
* Understanding of working in resource-contested environments
* Basic understanding of ISO9001
* Familiarity with relevant MOD contracting and regulatory frameworks (JSP’s, DEFSTANS and MILSTANS)
*6. What We Offer*
* £45,000-£50,000
* Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) — profit share allocation tied to company performance
* 26 days annual leave plus UK bank holidays
* Employer pension contribution (auto-enrolment and above)
* On-site fitness facilities (gym and climbing wall)
* Opportunity to gain drone pilot qualifications
