Join a global-scale optical networking environment supporting one of the most advanced, high-capacity backbone infrastructures in the world. This role focuses on designing, operating, and upgrading large-scale DWDM optical networks that interconnect global data centers and enable critical cloud services. You will work in a fast-paced engineering team responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and continuous evolution of a multi-terabit optical transport network. The position offers hands-on exposure to cutting-edge optical technologies, complex troubleshooting, and large-scale network operations across a follow-the-sun model.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in optical network engineering, operations, or support roles within telecom, ISP, or large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with DWDM/optical transport systems and related optical networking technologies
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex optical network issues and perform root cause analysis in high-availability environments
- Solid understanding of optical network planning, design, and modelling tools
- Experience working in 24/7 operational or on-call environments with production-impacting infrastructure
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, TCP/IP, and DNS
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, including change management and coordinated network upgrades
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently in high-pressure environments
Responsibilities
- Operate, support, and maintain large-scale DWDM optical transport networks connecting global data centres
- Perform network troubleshooting, diagnostics, and deep root cause analysis for complex optical system issues
- Plan, coordinate, and execute xcfaprz optical network device upgrades across distributed, multi-region environments
- Manage end-to-end change processes, ensuring safe and controlled implementation of network modifications
- Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and customers to schedule and deliver network changes and upgrades
- Monitor network performance and ensure high availability, reliability, and service continuity across all systems
- Contribute to optical network design discussions and infrastructure scaling initiatives
- Identify operational inefficiencies and drive automation or process improvements to enhance network performance and reliability
