Job Description

As Head of Technology in the Positioning Product Centre you will be responsible for leading an international team of researchers responsible for investigating, studying, acquiring and/or prototyping new technologies that can help to maintain u-blox as a leading global vendor for GNSS positioning components and products. You will be open minded, innovative and forward thinking in order to identify emerging opportunities well ahead of market readiness. A key part of the work includes generation of new patents and IPR as well as technical publications and articles for journals and conferences.
You will be a member of the senior management team in the product centre reporting to the Head of Positioning contributing to the vision and strategies employed to maintain and grow the position of u-blox as industry leader in GNSS. This involves working cooperatively at all levels across the company as well as with industry and academia outside u-blox.
u-blox is a Swiss company headquartered at Thalwil and the preferred locations for this position are either in Thalwil Switzerland, Tampere/Espoo in Finland or Chemnitz/Hannover/Berlin in Germany.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead an international team of researchers in conducting state-of-the-art research in the field of GNSS and related PNAT technologies
• Member of the Positioning Product Centre senior management team setting the vision, strategies and roadmap for u-blox GNSS products
• Work with colleagues at all levels as well as with external companies, organisations and academia on a technology level
• Drive the development of patents, papers and publications supporting u-blox’s industry leading reputation in GNSS

• Recognized GNSS and PNT expertise
• Track record in research as evidenced by publications and/or patents
• Inspirational leader with track record leading research teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Team player
• Experience working in a senior management role
• Strong networks across industry and academia
• Comfortable in front of customers and in public situations

• Knowledge and experience of additional technical field(s) outside of GNSS
• Experience working with agile development methodologies
