About

The client seeks a development leader with a strong presence and confidence, who is genuinely passionate about advancing their mission.

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will manage a comprehensive development program encompassing individual, corporate, and foundation support to secure various types of gifts.

A key aspect of this role is to build on the clients fundraising history and leverage past successes to further enhance fundraising efforts.

The CDO will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing a development strategy that aligns with the clients strategic plan for 2030.

This involves expanding the donor pipeline and developing customized engagement strategies to build long-term donor relationships.

The CDO will work closely with the CEO, board members, and other leaders to facilitate high-level fundraising, which includes cultivating major gifts and ensuring effective stewardship.

There will be a focus on data-driven decision-making to track fundraising progress accurately.

The role also involves leading a team of development professionals towards achieving annual goals and producing marketing materials that resonate with potential donors.

It's crucial for the CDO to have nonprofit fundraising experience, particularly with high-net-worth individuals, and to be skillful in building relationships with senior leadership, managing staff, and working with boards and volunteers.

Candidates should have substantial experience in donor relations, with an emphasis on engaging military and national security funders, and possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the CDO is expected to participate actively in strategic discussions and support key collaborations to advance the clients strategic goals.

Necessary qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, with a preference for a masters degree, and a willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
