Job Summary
Cardinal Correctional Care is seeking Physician or Nurse Practitioner to join our team working in a hybrid correctional institution setting. This position will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care with and under the supervision of our Medical Director. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through effective communication and clinical skills.
This role does require some travel in Missouri, 15-hours a week onsite at various locations, and all other hours remote.
Job Description
- Triage telephone calls in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Reports to assigned facility at designated time/day to examine referred individuals.
- Assumes role of primary care provider with the coordination of on and off-site care.
- Conducts sick call, physical examinations, and reviews nurse documentation.
- Consults with medical providers in the community to resolve issues in service delivery.
- Monitors and supervises the delivery of medical care within the facility.
- Supervises, provides guidance, and acts as a clinical resource for onsite mid-level providers.
- Participates in the on-site continuous quality improvement program to enhance the delivery of medical care, control infectious disease, address patient complaints, analyze trends and patterns, and create action plans to resolve issues.
- Attends meetings and in-services as requested by the medical director.
- Monitors referrals to outside health care facilities for appropriateness, quality and continuity of care.
- Monitors mediation utilization at assigned facilities.
- Conducts administrative duties as assigned by the medical director.
- As directed, visits the medical segregation cells and appropriately documents encounters.
- Provides documentation that is dated, timed, legible, problem focused, and signed.
- Refers individuals to off-site services when the level of care required is beyond that which can be provided onsite.
- Whenever possible, utilizes onsite resources and personnel to prevent unnecessary off-site visits.
- Responds to assist with the provision of emergency treatment when on-site.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability or his/her individual judgments and actions.
- Utilizes universal precautions when providing care.
- Complies with the HIPAA rules for corrections and protects the individuals right to privacy to the greatest extent possible given the dynamics of a correctional environment.
- Abides by the security regulations of the facility.
- Notifies Health Services Administrator and Medical Director of schedule changes prior to the scheduled visit and as far in advance as possible.
- Assists with arranging replacement coverage.
Education, Skills, Experience:
- Must possess all necessary Missouri Medical Licensing for Nurse Practitioner or Physician
- Current DEA registration.
- Experience in a primary care specialty
