Position Summary: The
AWS Cloud Architect
acts as the primary technical authority for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise‑level cloud architectures within AWS GovCloud for the DCIPS project. This role will guide the development team, develop a cloud strategy, and ensure secure, scalable, cost‑effective deployments on AWS.
NOTE: This role is contingent on the contract being awarded.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and deploy dynamically scalable, highly available, fault tolerant AWS applications and infrastructure
Lead & advise on cloud migration strategies for complex, multi‑tier systems
Select AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, etc.) matching project needs
Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC): implement Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines
Optimize cost and performance: monitor usage, implement cost‑control best practices
Ensure security & compliance: apply AWS Well Architected frameworks, IAM, encryption, audit/logging
Define and enforce security policies (IAM roles, encryption, network security)
Plan and execute migration of applications and data from on‑premises or other clouds to AWS.
Disaster Recovery & Resilience: develop and maintain backup, DR plans, failover strategies
Continuously assess, review existing architecture and recommend enhancements including new AWS features
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline.
10+ years in Cloud migration, enhancement, and virtualization.
Expertise in disaster recovery and achieving 100% up time
Agile and DevSecOps project knowledge
Experience deploying AWS services in GovCloud
Familiarity with DoD systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud platforms
Certifications:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Certified Data Analytics, Cloud Practitioner and AI Practitioner preferred
Desired expertise in AWS SysOps and AWS Machine Learning Engineering
Security Clearance Requirements:
U.S. Citizen with active DoD Secret clearance.
