Senior Data Analyst General Information Description:

The Senior Data Analyst interprets and analyzes complex datasets to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making within an organization. This role works alongside managers, business users, and business executives to gather and transform data, conduct statistical analyses, and create visualizations, dashboards, and reports that will contribute to identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities that drive business initiatives. The Senior Data Analyst plays a critical role in extracting value from data, optimizing business processes, and driving competitive advantage through advanced analytical techniques. Additionally, this role supports Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) initiatives by ensuring data integrity, identifying potential risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This position reports directly to the IT organization. Responsibilities: Lead the data and analytic strategy for IT, ensuring the organization leverages data effectively to drive decision-making and improve operations. Understands the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of business executives Translates business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows with required information Coordinates with knowledge workers to understand their information needs and identifies ways to visualize and present information in a user-friendly manner Collaborates with data engineers and IT professionals to optimize data collection, storage, and retrieval processes Creates interactive dashboards, reports, and presentations to effectively communicate complex analytical findings to stakeholders Proactively mines data sources to identify trends and patterns and generates insights for business units and senior leadership Works closely with information managers, architects, and business units for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training Develops analytical strategies to solve business problems by understanding the business problem, identifying relevant data, gathering and summarizing data meaningfully, and applying appropriate statistical analysis Transforms complex data into easy-to-follow reporting through graphing, charts, and dashboard Assist with audits and surveys by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights that can improve audit efficiency and effectiveness. Supports the business with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) initiatives and requirements. Job Requirements Education: A bachelors degree in data science, computer science, management information systems, statistics, or related field. Experience: At least five years of experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, market research analyst, financial analyst, statistician, or equivalent role Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including executives, managers, and marketing professionals, to provide data-driven insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making processes Demonstrated experience in the creation of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for the effective communication of insights and findings to a variety of internal and external stakeholders Substantial experience with relational customer databases and query tools Experience with structured and unstructured data Skills: Strong ability to extract, manipulate, visualize, and model large datasets Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or Looker Studio High understanding of data warehousing tools (SAS, SQL, Hadoop) as well as programming languages (Python, R, JavaScript) Ability to perform functional requirements analysis and business domain analysis Strong communication, summarization, and presentation skills between diverse departments with varying technical knowledge Ability to identify patterns, correlations, and trends from data that can provide insights into business operations, customer behavior, or market dynamics Willingness and ability to stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and tools in data analysis, machine learning, and business intelligence Strong influential skills with the ability to glean insights and translate them into business recommendations for senior management
