Location/Group Specific Information:
The Supervisor of Manufacturing Engineering will report directly to the Manager of Product Engineering in the Single-Use Technologies Division (SUD) in the BioProduction Group (BPG) at Thermo Fisher Scientific. This role is intended to operate on the first shift (day shift) Monday – Friday
How You Will Make an Impact:
The successful candidate for this position will mentor and train colleagues to do design work (drawing creation and costing) and deliver work (drawing release, specification launch, final approval).
The leader will help drive initiatives that unify colleagues in the Product Engineering group and drive operational excellence in the processes that the group uses to deliver industry leading bioprocess containers to Thermo Fisher's customers.
The leader will also interact cross functionally with other leaders in the business from operations, project management, product management, finance, quality and commercial.
A Day in the Life:
Lead and develop a team of engineers, drafters, and documentation specialists, fostering trust, accountability, and high performance.
Provide hands-on technical leadership in bioprocess container design, including direct engagement with Autodesk AutoCAD, Oracle ERP (BOMs, routings, item masters), and Salesforce as needed.
Set, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives aligned to Single Use Division (SUD) objectives, driving projects through disciplined project management to successful closure.
Apply Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and data-driven metrics to advance product quality, process efficiency, and operational excellence.
Ensure high-quality written and electronic documentation while reinforcing strong documentation standards across the team.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to deliver innovative solutions and a superior customer experience.
Research, evaluate, and implement new components, technologies, and design methodologies to strengthen product and team capability.
Requirements: Education and Experience:
Minimum Required: High School Diploma/ GED with 7+ years of related experience (manufacturing or product engineering preferred)
OR
Bachelor of Science in a technical field of study with 3+ years of related experience (manufacturing or product engineering preferred)
1+ years of prior leadership experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Deep technical expertise in bioprocess container design, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation standards preferred.
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD; ability to coach others in effective CAD utilization.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems required (Oracle ERP (BOM creation, routings, item masters) and Salesforce sales operations systems- preferred)
Demonstrated project management capability, driving complex initiatives from concept through implementation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with disciplined documentation practices (handwritten and electronic).
Proven leadership ability, including performance management, team development, and strategic prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., PPI, Lean).
