Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM to close of the workday
Saturday & Sunday as needed Pre-approved overtime as directed
Start and finish times may adjust seasonally
Reports directly to the Project Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
· Lead, supervise, and motivate a 2–3-person crew to ensure quality, efficiency, and consistency on all assigned properties
· Promote a motivated, respectful, and well-disciplined work environment
· Perform and landscape construction projects. IE- Hardscapes, Irrigation, Veneer Patios, Plantings, Walls
· Conduct daily DOT inspections on assigned truck and trailer
· Ensure trucks, trailers, and equipment are prepped for the next business day
· Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of vehicles and equipment to company standards
· Identify equipment issues and notify the supervisor and Vehicle & Equipment Manager prior to end of shift
· Ensure crew members always wear required PPE and KLC- issued/approved apparel
· Confirm crew depart the shop on time and are fully equipped for the workday
· Monitor and enforce proper break and lunch durations
· Ensure accurate and consistent clocking in and out at job sites
· Model and enforce all company policies and procedures
· Ensure all vehicles and equipment are fueled prior to end of shift
· Learn and promote the company mission and values
· Train crew members on proper tool usage, placement, and storage
· Follow and enforce all traffic laws and safe driving practices
· Learn and teach proper hand signals
· Attend weekly training and safety meetings
· Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
· Current DOT Medical Card or willing to obtain one
· 3–4 years of landscape construction experience
· Ability to distinguish weeds from perennial plants
· Ability to identify common trees and shrubs by common name
· Proficiency in operating commercial equipment ie:, excavator, skid steer, ditchwitch, loader
· Knowledge of small-engine and hand-operated landscape equipment
· Ability to recognize when equipment is not operating properly
· Ability to perform minor field repairs
· Strong leadership skills with ability to train, coach, and maintain crew discipline
· Ability to follow direction and communicate verbally in English
· Valid driver’s license with fewer than 4 points (or equivalent)
· Demonstrated ability to safely hook up, back up, and operate a truck and trailer combination
· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
· Knowledge of traffic laws and proper hand signals, and ability to teach them
Physical Requirements
· Ability to walk extended distances (minimum of 3 miles per day)
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for at least 100 feet
· Ability to carry, twist, and turn with approximately 23 lbs. worn on the back for up to 2 hours
· Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions
· Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and climb stairs or hills for prolonged periods
· Must be physically capable of performing all job duties without limitation from pre-existing conditions
