This position serves as an Oracle Database Administrator performing complex professional and advisory functions in Systems Services in the Data Center Operations Section. In this role you will perform high level technical administration of Oracle Database Systems. In addition, you will evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve problem diagnostics of complex operating systems and software problems. This position is responsible for conducting and coordinating in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis and serves as a project coordinator for full-range major/complex Oracle projects, hardware/software deployments and installations across multiple agencies and locations. Essential Functions

Under administrative direction, serves as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing complex professional and advisory functions in Systems Services in the Data Center Operations Section. Performs high level technical administration of Oracle Database Systems. Evaluates, troubleshoots, and resolves problem diagnostics of complex operating systems and software problems. Conducts and coordinates in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis. Serves as project coordinator for full-range major/complex Oracle projects, hardware/software deployments and installations across multiple agencies and locations. Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields. Requires three (3) years of professional experience in System Services or a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

Requires three (3) years of professional experience configuring and managing Oracle Database systems on LINUX or UNIX servers. Requires three (3) years of professional experience conducting technical research and systems analysis, particularly with Oracle Database systems. Requires three (3) years of professional experience diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues in a multi-user environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional experience configuring and managing Oracle Database systems on LINUX or UNIX servers. Three (3) years of professional experience conducting technical research and systems analysis, particularly with Oracle Database systems. Three (3) years of professional experience diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues in a multi-user environment. Three (3) years of professional experience monitoring databases with IBM WebSphere, AIX, and DB2. Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements. Ability to coordinate the activities of work associates to achieve desired results. Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature. Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others. Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information to others with clarity and precision.

Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license and the ability to travel in performance of duties. Requires the ability to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, short notice, evenings, weekends and holidays.
