Backend Software Engineer (Enterprise Systems)

Our client is a well-established organization with a strong presence in the transport and infrastructure sector.

We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable, high-performance backend systems. This role is responsible for the development of services, APIs, and integrations that support mission-critical applications in a high-transaction environment.

• Analyse business and system requirements to design robust backend solutions;
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations;
• Build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications;
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions;
• Work with databases and ensure efficient data processing and storage;
• Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC);
• Support system integration, testing, deployment, and production support;
• Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend, QA, and operations.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline;
• Experience in backend development using languages such as Java or similar;
• Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and distributed systems;
• Understanding of databases, data models, and system integration;
• Experience working in Linux/Unix or similar environments;
• Experience with frameworks (e.g., Spring or similar);
• Familiarity with microservices, containerisation, and cloud platforms.
