POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Business Intelligence(BI) Engineer is responsible for implementing the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence and analytical applications. This role drives the long-term data strategy and roadmap, including the selection of technologies and tools. The Lead BI Engineer identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems, ensuring that business intelligence applications enhance and support business decision-making capabilities. This position requires a high degree of independence and may involve providing leadership and mentorship to the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support technical design, development, and full-cycle implementation of business intelligence solutions, including requirements support, logical design, modeling, and testing. Interact with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet requirements. Collaborate within the IT organization to design effective solutions. Facilitate business process improvement and decision-making through effective use of business intelligence and information analytics. Develop reports and dashboards in Power BI, including advanced visualizations, data alerts, and report subscriptions. Utilize M-language and DAX in Power BI for creating calculated columns, measures, and optimizing performance. Capture and document non-functional requirements, define architecture, prepare estimates, and define technical solutions. Manage and mentor a team of BI Engineers, providing guidance, performance evaluations and professional development opportunities. Oversee the day-to-day activities of direct reports, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and improvement. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree preferred in a technical field, preferably in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or MIS. 7+ years of experience with Microsoft data platform technology. Experience building and troubleshooting solutions using SSIS and SSRS. Proficiency in TSQL programming (stored procedures, functions, triggers, query plan analysis, etc.). Experience with Microsoft Power BI platform, including DAX programming, Power BI dataflow, model, and report development. Proven ability to troubleshoot issues in production and perform root cause analysis. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Data Modeling and Design : Creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Database Management : Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and ETL processes. Cloud Computing : Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Data Governance and Compliance : Understanding of data privacy laws and best practices for data security. Programming Languages : Skills in Python, Java, and R. Data Integration : Experience with data integration tools and techniques. Performance Tuning : Optimizing database performance and scalability. Analytical Thinking : Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking. Communication : Conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Leadership : Leading and mentoring teams and managing projects effectively. Strategic Planning : Aligning data architecture with business goals and future needs. Collaboration : Working closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders. Adaptability : Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends. *This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days per week in our Schaumburg, IL office

Salary : $125,000-$160,000 annually
