The Quality Control Technician is responsible for production quality and helps ensure compliance with Canada’s Food Safety Regulations, the Maple Products Regulations, and HACCP/SQF systems. The Quality Control Technician inspects production lines prior to the start of bottling and packaging. He or she ensures that all staff adhere to the food safety culture and are accountable for its success.

Responsibilities :

  • Work collaboratively with various supervisors, operators, production staff, mechanics, and your immediate supervisor;
  • At the start of the day, check the Brix level, color, taste, clarity, and type of syrup (organic/regular);
  • Check each barrel (syrup type) before pumping it into the heating tank;
  • At the start of production, ensure that the correct containers, caps, labels, and boxes are used, and verify that the correct pallet and configuration are in place;
  • Ensure that the finished product meets customer standards;
  • Report any non-conformities and, with the approval of immediate supervisors, make the necessary changes;
  • Conduct pre- and post-operational inspections;
  • Verify that the “first in, first out” system is being used; and
  • Verify at packaging that the correct products, barcodes, labels, plastic wrap, prices, boxes, pallets, etc., are used and ensure that the product specification sheet for product packaging is followed;
  • Complete the HACCP/SQF documents related to production;

Manufacturing Management Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing environnement.
  • Hands-on experience in the agri-food sector, ideally within an SME.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with production management tools (ERP, KPIs).
  • Understanding of traceability.

Human and Managerial Skills

  • Strategic mindset and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with other departments.
