Title: Data Engineer (Software Developer)

Location:

Southeastern U.S. Region (Hybrid Schedule)

Description: We are seeking a Data Engineer who will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing database systems for efficient data management and retrieval. This position is part of a modernization effort to transition from legacy platforms to advanced data technologies. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and revamp our data infrastructure using modern analytics tools.

Responsibilities: Collaborate with program managers, product managers, and business analysts to capture and translate stakeholder requests into engineering specifications, including design documents, code, and test artifacts. Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and software development best practices in coordination with software architects. Participate in Agile teams to perform tasks like application design, coding, code review, and testing. Provide regular updates on project status to the Agile team and management. Propose efficient solutions to meet project and program objectives. Identify and manage engineering risks, communicating issues and mitigation plans effectively. Coordinate with other teams to handle dependencies and resolve challenges. Support business units in addressing user issues in accordance with production support processes and service agreements. Stay updated on new technologies and industry standards. Contribute to the development of product roadmaps and provide input on high-level estimates. Help define and establish documentation and engineering standards, processes, and templates with IT management.

Required Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts and familiarity with modeling methodologies. Proficiency in cloud-based data architectures supporting advanced analytics. 5-7 years of experience in report development, particularly using modern BI tools. Expertise in ETL development with tools like SSIS or equivalent technologies. Strong SQL skills with experience in structured and semi-structured databases. Proficiency in data tool administration, including configuration and security setup. Familiarity with DataOps practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to support end users. Knowledge of production support techniques and incident management.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field. 5-7 years of relevant experience in data engineering, reporting, and analytics.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: 125k-130k per year
