About
Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer in the Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team to work on antenna and wireless modules in Tesla Semi. The Engineer will lead the mechanical design of different antenna and connectivity modules - enabling various features from cellular connectivity for infotainment to phone keys.
Responsibilities
Work closely with antenna and RF Engineers on system architecture and develop implementations
Optimize the components in the vehicle while considering performance, design, integration, size, mass, assembly and more
Participate in prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation efforts. Provide hands-on support
Modeling and design of mechanical components and assemblies including plastic, sheet metal, die cast etc.
Conduct mechanical design analysis including structural, tolerance, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and design for assembly
Generate detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation of mechanical designs using CATIA. Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to take designs from prototype through production and deployment
Support development of engineering and reliability test plans, test data analysis, and troubleshooting of design issues. Communicate with suppliers regarding DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback and support tooling and assembly bring up
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design
Experience in the development of antenna / RF modules
Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred) for 3D modeling and drafting
Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred)
Experience taking designs from initial concept through to mass production.
Basic understanding of electrical and thermal design fundamentals. Familiarity with PCBAs and electronics packaging
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform first principles analysis to ensure a successful design (physics, stress-strain, thermal, tolerance, cost and mass optimization, etc.)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Expected Compensation
$92,720 - $256,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
