Job Summary
Hope Media Group is seeking an innovative and visionary Director of Software Engineering to lead our engineering team and shape the future of our digital platforms. This is a senior leadership role responsible for modernizing our technology architecture, transforming legacy systems, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. The ideal candidate will emphasize delivering user-centric solutions, align engineering practices with organizational goals, and foster a strong partnership with product and design teams. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development of scalable and impactful products using modern Agile delivery practices (Scrum/Kanban).
Essential Functions
Leadership:
Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to both engineers and engineering leaders, fostering their growth in technical, professional, and leadership skills.
Development and Implementation:
Define and implement a modern technology strategy, emphasizing scalable, maintainable, and secure systems while transforming legacy applications.
Partner with product leaders to align technical efforts with organizational goals, ensuring that engineering solutions meet user and business needs.
Champion Agile practices (Scrum/Kanban), optimizing for flow, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement across teams.
Establish and enforce best practices in software development, architecture, and deployment, including CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to ensure alignment between technology solutions and organizational priorities.
Lead the modernization of existing applications and systems to align with modern principles such as The Twelve-Factor App, Hexagonal Architecture, and Clean Architecture.
Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and frameworks to ensure Hope Media Group remains innovative and competitive.
Demonstrated Faith:
Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be spiritually grounded and Biblically literate.
Comfortable praying for co-workers in team meetings, leading spoken prayer, and participating in ministry prayer meetings and Bible studies.
Lives by the Christian principles defined by the Ministry Statement of Faith.
Participates in on-air fundraisers and prays for donors as needed.
Has a passion for leveraging the platform of radio for evangelism and discipleship.
Exhibits a strong moral character.
Is an active member of a Bible believing local church.

Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong moral character
Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church
Deep expertise in modern architectural patterns, including cloud-native development, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Strong knowledge of transforming legacy systems into scalable, maintainable solutions.
Proven ability to implement Agile delivery practices (Scrum, Kanban) and optimize team workflows.
Experience working with cross-functional teams to build user-centric products.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
A product-first mindset focused on delivering solutions that meet user and business needs.
Passion for modernizing technology while preserving business continuity.
Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Preferred-not required:
Experience in the media or nonprofit sectors.
Familiarity with Hope Media Group's mission and audience.
Proficiency in leading transformations using modern frameworks like The Twelve-Factor App, Hexagonal Architecture, and Clean Architecture.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Immediate supervision of a small group of employees. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews and applies company policies.

Physical Requirements
