Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Network Engineer
to support the Edge Networking team within the Bureau of Infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level network infrastructure across multiple state agencies. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, and modern networking technologies, along with excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Infrastructure Management Install, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, SD-WAN appliances, and wireless infrastructure. Support LAN/WAN and edge network environments across enterprise systems. Ensure network systems meet security and compliance standards. 2. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Monitor network performance using industry-standard tools. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in coordination with internal teams and vendors. Work with service providers and business partners to resolve connectivity and performance issues. 3. Deployment & Implementation
Support network deployments, upgrades, and change management processes. Assist in implementing new technologies and pilot programs. Participate in hardware refresh cycles and technology evaluations. 4. Technical Support & Documentation
Manage and resolve incidents through
ServiceNow
ticketing system. Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams (Visio) and configuration records. Provide remote support to IT staff and business users. 5. Network Design & Optimization
Contribute to the design and optimization of complex network environments. Recommend improvements for performance, scalability, and reliability. Develop and maintain configuration standards. Required Skills & Qualifications
3+ years of experience
in:
Network Routing Network Switching
Hands-on experience with:
Cisco networking devices & CLI LAN/WAN infrastructure
Experience with
network monitoring and troubleshooting tools Familiarity with
ServiceNow
or similar ticketing systems Strong understanding of
network security principles Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications
CCNA Certification
(highly preferred) Experience with
SD-WAN technologies Exposure to
wireless and cellular network solutions Experience working in
government/public sector environments
