Our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics department. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing the outbound flow of products, ensuring that every order is accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched on time. Your precision and organizational skills are vital to maintaining customer satisfaction and operational efficiency within our warehouse. You will work closely with various carriers and internal teams to streamline the shipping process. Responsibilities:
- Processing and preparing outgoing shipments for all modes of transport.
- Accurately completing all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verifying the accuracy of picked items against customer orders.
- Coordinating with freight carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Operating shipping scales, label printers, and other related equipment.
- Ensuring packages are correctly labeled, packaged, and secured for transit.
- Maintaining an organized and efficient shipping dock area.
- Strictly adhering to all safety regulations, including the mandatory use of appropriate PPE.
- Conducting regular checks of shipping supplies and reporting needs.
- Assisting with general warehouse duties as required to support logistics operations.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role is highly advantageous. Strong understanding of shipping procedures and documentation is required. Must possess excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. Ability to perform moderate lifting, up to 40 lbs, regularly. Capable of standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift. A proactive approach to safety and adherence to all logistics protocols are essential.
